Frequently asked questions
What is Maneuver?
Maneuver is a microbial product designed to enhance Microbial Acquired Nutrition in crops. It utilizes specific microbes to tap into natural nutrient pools in the environment through three primary mechanisms: nitrogen fixation, mineralization, and solubilization. These processes convert atmospheric nitrogen, organic matter, and insoluble minerals into plant-available nutrients, helping to supplement synthetic fertilizers and improve crop yield potential.
What is Microbial Acquired Nutrition?
Microbial Acquired Nutrition refers to the process where microbes access and convert environmental nutrient resources into forms that plants can use. As crop yields increase due to better genetics and management, available nutrients can become limiting. Row crops in the U.S. are exposed to substantial nutrient pools, such as 78% nitrogen in the air and minerals/organic materials in the soil. Maneuver highlights three mechanisms:
- N-Fixation: Converting atmospheric N₂ gas into plant-available nitrogen (effects: nitrogen).
- Mineralization: Converting organic matter into plant-available nutrients (effects: nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, potassium, and others).
- Solubilization: Converting insoluble minerals into soluble plant-available nutrients (effects: phosphorus, potassium, zinc, manganese, and others).
How does Maneuver work?
Maneuver contains resilient bacteria in a protected endospore form that colonizes the rhizosphere, roots, and plant tissues. Once applied to the soil, the bacteria are activated by carbon sources from soil and residues. They germinate, divide, and move toward root exudates, leading to exponential growth and colonization until the population stabilizes. The bacteria then perform nitrogen fixation, mineralization, and solubilization throughout the growing season. The product acts at three sites: leaves and stems, roots, and rhizosphere, providing season-long nutrient access.
What are the benefits of using Maneuver?
- Season-Long Nutrient Access: Provides a supplemental source of nutrition, including nitrogen, throughout the growing season.
- Multiple Modes of Action: Combines fixation, mineralization, and solubilization for consistent results and enhanced nutrient uptake, driving plant growth, grain fill, and yield.
- Resilient Microbes: High CFU count in a protected form ensures viability and quick colonization; safe to mix with all tank mix partners.
- Improved Crop Performance: Studies show increased corn yield by +8.5 bu/A in 9 replicated trials and a 76.3% increase in stalk nitrate levels (from 505.9 PPM to 892.1 PPM) across 16 locations, moving from marginal to optimal levels.
- Soil and Plant Health: Promotes soil quality, root growth, and overall resilience.
- Return on Investment: Offers value through new technology that improves nutrient uptake and yield potential.
How should Maneuver be applied?
Maneuver offers application flexibility and has proven to enhance crop development and yield in various methods:
- In-furrow, 2×2, seed treatment, soil broadcast, side-dress, early post, fertigation, or dry fertilizer impregnation. For best results, apply earlier in the growing season to benefit from early and season-long colonization.
What are the physical attributes of Maneuver?
- Dry formulation = 5-year shelf life
- Liquid formulation = 2+ year shelf life
- High CFU count for improved colonization and establishment.
- Endospore formulation keeps bacteria viable.
- Compatible for tank-mixing with fertilizers, pesticides, and adjuvants.
Is Maneuver compatible with other products?
Yes, Maneuver is safe to mix with all tank mix partners, including fertilizers, pesticides, adjuvants, and more, due to its protected microbial form. Always conduct a jar test prior to mixing large quantities for application.
